Construction works are approaching completion on Płocka, Młynów and Księcia Janusza stations. Inspection and approval processes will start soon after. The new section of the M2 line of Warsaw’s metro is expected to be open in spring 2020.

The stations on the Wola section are almost ready. This does not mean, however, that they will start service immediately after construction is over. Before this can happen, we need to secure a number of approvals and assessments, and, most importantly, the occupancy permit.

The schedule ahead of the spring 2020 opening is as follows:
•    29 November 2019 – finish construction works as agreed under the contract;
•    December 2019 – January 2020 – commence the inspection and approval process (including by the Voivodeship Sanitary and Epidemiological Station and the State Fire Service);
•    January 2020 – finish the inspection and approval process;
•    February 2020  – file for the occupancy permit with the Voivodeship Building Inspector;
•    February – March 2020 – complete the necessary legal procedures;
•    early April 2020 – open the new section for service.

On Tuesday, 29 October, Gülermak – the general contractor – submitted a Variation Order Request to inform that it was impossible for it to perform internal tests due to the delayed installation of the main service line to station C07 Młynów (currently, the station is connected to a service line with lower wattage) by innogy Stoen Operator Sp. z o.o. This delay also made it impossible to complete the mandatory inspection and approval processes within the existing construction schedule.

Faced with these developments, in order to open the Wola section on time, we decided to change the schedule, as mentioned above.
By following this plan, we will be able to open Płocka, Młynów and Księcia Janusza stations within four months after the completion of construction works, as was the case with the eastern section of the M2 line.

For procedural reasons and based on experience from the inspection and approval process of the eastern section, Metro Warszawskie will include the new schedule in the contract documents.
