Warsaw’s ecological activity has been noticed by UN authorities. At the recently closed Conference of Parties in Doha (Qatar), Warsaw has been announced as the host of next climate conference – Conference of the Parties (COP) 19.

It will be another international conference that will take place in Warsaw. Polish capital is already  experienced in organizing this kind of events, what had been proved during European Economic Summit few years ago and during Polish presidency in UE and European Football Championship EURO 2012.

The conference in Doha (COP 18) opened on 26th November 2012. Poland was represented by Mr Marcin Korolec, Minister of the Environment, he was accompanied by Mr Leszek Drogosz, Director of Infrastructure Bureau in City of Warsaw. Polish offer was received very positively by conference participants, what resulted in decision of giving Warsaw the title of host COP 19.

Organization of the next climate conference means also that Poland will hold the presidency in climate convention from November 2013 to November 2014, and the Polish Minister of the Environment will chair the COP 19 deliberations.

Conferences of the Parties (COP) are annual summits which set out new directions in global climate protection. Organization of COP 19 in Warsaw means strengthening Polish position in negotiations and gives the possibility of moderating global discussions. It is also a great promotion of Poland and Warsaw among over a dozen of thousands participants from all over the world.

Poland had already been an organizer of climate conference in 2008, that was in Poznan.
