The City of Warsaw closed the call for tenders for the purchase of places in non-public nurseries, children's clubs, and day care centres. Based on the verification procedure of the submitted offers, we now know that the City has secured nearly two thousand places in non-public institutions as of September.

E-parking to save drivers' time
With a competition for providing a parking information system being launched, drivers will eventually be able to find a parking place in the centre of Warsaw easier and quicker. The mobile application to be developed will cover as many as 30 thousand parking places, and will be one of the first systems of this kind worldwide.

At weekends Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście streets are again converted into pedestrian zones. From 20 April (Saturday) to mid-October, the Royal Route, at a section from the Gen. Ch. de Gaulle Roundabout to Senatorska Street, can only be used by pedestrians and cyclists.

Soon five Warsaw sidewalks will undergo modernisation involving the installation of air-cleaning pavements. The tender procedure launched by the City to complete this project has already been concluded, and the first construction of anti-smog sidewalks on such a large scale in Europe is about to begin.

On 19 April, Friday, at 12.00 o'clock, the roll call of honour, Qaddish and the placing of wreaths in front of the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes marked the beginning of commemoration of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. That day volunteers also distributed daffodils made of paper - a symbol of memory of the Uprising.

A competition for the leasing of premises along the Vistula has already commenced. Cultural meetings, sporting events, and concerts will be organised by eight coffee clubs. In the summer season, noise monitoring and additional Municipal Guard patrols will be organised on the boulevards.

This year, in order to increase the capacity of Warsaw's nurseries, available free of charge, the City will be financing more places in facilities run by private entities. With a view to securing several thousand places for 2019-2022, the Mayor of Warsaw has announced an open competition. This marks a subsequent implementation stage of the “Warsaw for the Youngest programme”.

On 11 March, on its 91st anniversary, the Warsaw Zoo joined in the celebration of the Zoological Gardens' Mission Day. The zoo provides care for 49 endangered animal species. It is a place where veterinarians develop their medical knowledge and where children learn how to care about environment.
