At the “W” hour, all gathered at Gloria Victis Memorial in Powązki Cemetery, commemorated the memory of insurgents with a minute of silence. The national anthem and Warsaw bugle-call were played. The highest state authorities attended and placed the wreaths under the monument, and among them, there were: Mr Andrzej Duda - the President, Mrs Elżbieta Witek – Marshall of the Sejm, Mr Tomasz Grodzki – Marshall of the Senate, and Mr Mateusz Morawiecki – the Prime Minister. The Mayor of Warsaw, Mr Rafał Trzaskowski, accompanied by insurgents and Ms Ewa Malinowska-Grupińska – Chairperson of the City Council, placed the wreath on behalf of the citizens.

The prayer for all who got killed was recited by the Field Bishop of the Polish Army, Mr Józef Guzdek. – For the next generations of Polish citizens, their attitude was - and still is -the source of power and a positive example of taking actions for a good cause: to defend freedom and dignity of each human being. Warsaw was demolished, but not destroyed. The faith in the fundamental values, the uprising spirit and determination helped our capital city to be restored as the mythical Phoenix – said the Bishop.

The ceremony at Gloria Victis Memorial is a part of the 76th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising. The schedule is published on the website of the city.
