New surfaces spanning hundreds of thousands of square meters, road works worth nearly PLN 140M – this is a brief summary of this year’s road season in Warsaw. We have already rounded off with several dozen repairs, including both minor milling jobs and extensive reconstruction projects.

Warsaw's road workers make the most of the available time and resources to keep the local roads to top standard,” said Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw, adding: “This season, they took care of an area of over 350 thousand square meters. That's more than 50 football pitches. This means that tens of kilometres of new roads are there to be enjoyed by the drivers, along with new pavements for pedestrians and bike paths for cyclists.

A record-breaking summer vacation season
To make them as least cumbersome as possible for the locals, the works take place during the lowest traffic hours. That is why, understandably, most of them were carried out over the long “May weekend” and in the summer vacation season

Keeping it busy all year round
But it was no different for road workers throughout the rest of the year, as the first repairs were launched as early as in April. In September alone, nearly 50 thousand sq. meters were renovated on Łukowska, Potrzebna and Wiertnicza Streets, to name but a few.

Plans for the future
Weekend road renovations are only part of the plans. Several streets were subject to comprehensive reconstruction work this year. This mostly includes Miodowa St. and Krasińskich Square which have become the extension of the Royal Route. Comprehensive works were previously carried out in Podleśna St. Warsaw road construction workers are still working at Lindleya St. and the “Targówek ring road”, i.e. the route covering Ossowskiego, Handlowa and Myszkowska St. The projects are due to be completed this year.
